It's been so valuable having the company come in today. It's brilliant for the students to be able to see how you can take a stimulus, start workshopping it. The most important thing I hope they take away from this is when they told us that actually they did a lot of playing around with it. Not all ideas were selected, but through playing and through trying and experimenting, they were able to come up with lots of different ideas in a very creative way. I think that the show itself is very, very creative, and it's brilliant, especially for GCSE and A level students to watch because of the different types of devices, different genres, how it's so creatively put together, but could be easily replicated within a school performance. It's been really valuable, and we've been really lucky to have them come visit us.

The Classroom Programme has been designed to give teachers and pupils studying GCSE and A Level Drama, a foundation in creating theatre inspired by the Folkestone Performing Arts Company’s practice.

It can begins with a CPD for teachers wanting to develop their skills in teaching devised and physical theatre. This can then be followed by a workshop for your students which will embed these skills into the students’ work at the start of their theatre-making process.

'I liked that we worked with people that we usually wouldn't work with.  Today I worked with them, and it was great.' *

The practices & techniques our Ensemble Members use in these workshops are taken directly from the FPAC’s work in the rehearsal room. The workshops are practical and engaging, focusing on devising and collaborating, risk-taking and experimentation. We will explore building an ensemble through physical training, teaching the importance of play and creating a shared visual language, which will begin to help your students shape and communicate the stories they want to tell.

'I liked that some people who may be a bit shyer were very confident.  I like the games we played and how we all had very good communication and cooperation.'  *

Our bespoke workshops will:

- Provide your students with skills to use in their own work.

- Promotes the physical confidence your students need to be brave and bold with

 the material they are making.

- Addresses skills required for students to enhance their abilities in the areas of performance,

 movement, directing and critical analysis.

Our workshops can explore suggested themes or texts or we can bring in sample texts in

which to devise.
