Arts Informed Policy Development: Theatre as a Tool for Human Rights & Systemic Change

Writer: Matthew HahnMatthew Hahn

In May 2025, two members of the FPAC Ensemble will facilitate Theatre for Change workshops in in Micronesia and The Marshall Islands as part of our Art Informed Policy Development Programme with the UN High Commission for Human Rights.

We will be examining how theatre can be used as a tool for Human Rights and Systemic Change through two powerful theatre methods — forum theatre and legislative theatre.  Participants will explore creative and practical approaches to address human rights challenges, rethink decision-making, & foster systemic change.

Artistic Director Matthew Hahn recently facilitated a taster workshop in Geneva for twenty Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights leaders from around the world to see how these methods can best help support their vital work.
