Starting in January 2027, The Folkestone Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will use creative storytelling to engage with people in our local community who experience food poverty, many of whom frequently go without a hot, healthy meal, with the resulting food insecurity having a significant negative impact on their mental health and overall wellbeing.

Entitled Have Your Say, Folkestone!, these stories will be brought to a wide and passionate audience of community members, councilors, stakeholders and decision-makers. Through interactive participation, audience members will become part of the conversation, exploring potential solutions and helping to shape more effective responses to food poverty in our community. Find out more here.

Today, FPAC is launching a Spacehive crowdfunding campaign, with over £14,000 already pledged from the Kent County Council, Tesco Cheriton and The Sunflower House. These early supporters show a strong vote of confidence in the project but unlocking this funding depends on people like you choosing to take action, get involved and support now.

Support the project today here and help turn stories into action.

Feedback from our pilot project in October 2025:

‘The day proved to be really good fun and very thought provoking. The format really seems to work as everyone is drawn into the scenes and the fate of the main character, especially if they have shared experience.’

- Participant in Have Your Say, Folkestone!.

‘I thought the performance was a valuable experience because it highlighted the need for better communications with residents and the scarce resources available at a local level to make these changes happen effectively.

- Audience member Folkestone & Hythe Cllr. Blakemore, Have Your Say, Folkestone! Pilot, October 2025.
